The Under Belly of a Novelist’s Life

In celebration of her first novel, Away From Hannah’s Castle, West shares not a glamorous depiction of an author’s life, but one that is certainly picturesque. Living cross-culturally over the years, West shares situations in which she is caught unaware of traditional customs. She tells of mistakes aplenty and the obstacles that blindsided her as an unsuspecting tenderfoot—much to the amusement of ‘the locals’ who always knew exactly what to avoid. West shares what she learned over the years and how much her character ripened along the way. The comic flavor with which West peppers her ups and downs makes this a most enjoyable event.
